Leland Did It - Planets

"Planets" by Italian band Leland Did It is a gripping fusion of post-punk, alternative, and synthwave, perfectly capturing the tension and dark charm of its theme.

As the main soundtrack for "Cara Alice", a short film by Gabriele Armenise, the track complements the film’s exploration of the complex, often tragic relationship between health and labor. With atmospheric synths and haunting vocals, "Planets" conjures a feeling of introspection, drawing listeners into an intense soundscape, highlighting the heavy legacy of the Fibronit asbestos crisis in Bari. The layered, moody instrumentation and resonant beats work depict to the film's portrayal of enduring harm, arousing a reminder of the threats within industrial labor histories.

Released through Dischi Uappissimi with distribution by Artist First, "Planets" is a haunting piece delivered by Italy’s indie music scene. The track feels timeless yet modern, echoing influences of '80s post-punk and synthwave while carrying a fresh alternative edge. Leland Did It manages to strike a strong balance between melancholy and energy, which serves the narrative weight of the film. The band beautifully encapsulates a somber theme delivering a strong artistic alignment with "Cara Alice", where sound and visual storytelling merge into a socially conscious experience.

LELAND DID IT is a band from Puglia, which combines alternative rock or post punk sounds with electronics. Active since 2014, they have produced and distributed an EP “Cake_Tales” (2014), and an LP “TEMPO” (Piccola Bottega Popolare - 2016), as well as numerous remixes and collaborations. After two promotional Italian tours (2015 and 2016), the band was selected at the “Linecheck” festival in Milan among the 4 emerging projects of 2016.

The European tour (France, Austria, Germany, Switzerland) of 2017, and the Italian tour of 2018 are followed by a break, in which a change of lineup occurs. From 5, the elements go to 4, they experiment with a different sound, enter the roster of Dischi Uappissimi and start recording the new album.
