Reykjavik Kids - Sanctimony, gloomy synth pop

Reykjavik Kids, dark guitar based, synthpop single "Sanctimony"!

"Sanctimony" by Reykjavik Kids is a brooding, synthpop-meets-dark-wave track that skillfully blends electronic-infused post-punk with melodic, haunting vocals. The song opens with a hypnotic, pulsing rhythm that sets a dark, atmospheric tone, while the layered synths give it a sense of depth and urgency. Mixed by James Aparicio (known for his work with Depeche Mode, Mogwai, and Grinderman), the production is polished yet retains a gritty edge.

Reykjavik Kids comment on "Sactinomy": "The song is dark guitar based post punk with electronics and synths. It's has elements of New Order and Crystal Castles in there."

The vocals float effortlessly above the moody instrumental, adding a melancholic yet captivating emotional layer. Lyrically, "Sanctimony" touches on themes of inner conflict and moral questioning, aligning perfectly with its dark, reflective sound. The track is a seamless fusion of melodic beauty and post-punk intensity, offering a refreshing take on synth-driven darkness. Reykjavik Kids manage to create a sound that feels both nostalgic and modern.

Reykjavik Kids formed in Newcastle upon Tyne, after a heavy weekend session in 2015 where Paul Tissington and Scott Munro were living.

Their sound features dark, scathing guitar lines blended with budget synths and introspective lyrics. Their 1st demos found their way to boutique London based label Tigre Fair who released their debut eponymous single on 12" vinyl for Record Store Day 2015 and their music has since received support from CLASH, and BBC Introducing in UK.

They took their name after reading a story on an influx of youth to Iceland's capital post-WWII, which resonated with their dark but forward looking sound.

Now residing in 2 countries (with guitarist/vocalist Scott Munro in Los Angeles and guitarist/synth player Paul Tissington in Newcastle).
