PREMIERE: Edgar's Dreams unveils new video and single, "The Displaced"
Greek minimal, dark wave duo to release new video and single, "The Displaced", November 5th!
Edgar's Dreams return with the release of the new single, accompanied with a new official, DIY video. "The Displaced" is a haunting, minimalist piece that captures an introspective atmosphere through sparse instrumentation and an experimental edge. The experienced duo leans into darkwave’s signature cold synth tones and combines them with an experimental approach, resulting in a track that feels both electrifying and mysteriously distant.
Edgar’s Dreams is a music duet that was formed in Elefsina, Greece, by Prodromos Kapa (Bass/Percussions/ Quitar/Vocals) and Dimi Flou (Vocals/Keys/ Percussions).
Prodromos and Dimi in 2015 decided to form a band under the name Edgar’s Dreams; it was their inner need and unusual and different music backround leading them to express their emotions and thoughts through music and lyrics. Their debut album , "9+1 Songs About…", was released in 2019.
"The Displaced" which premieres on November 5th on Edgar's Dreams YouTube channel, opens with a minimalist arrangement, allowing space to play a vital role in the composition. Synths pulse in and out, creating a ghostly basis for the track. This restrained instrumentation draws the listener in, increasing the focus on clever shifts and dark sounds. The underlying beat is hypnotic, grounding the song's ethereal quality and reinforcing the theme of displacement.
Dimis’ vocals are haunting and distant, empowering the song’s brooding feel. Her voice is slightly detached, which adds in the minimalist synth work, capturing a sense of estrangement and introspection. The mix of Dimi 's vocals and the arrangement creates an atmosphere that feels almost ghostly.
The experimental elements come through in the texture and layering, as the song builds in subtle ways, never fully exploding but instead simmering with a feeling of tension. Edgar's Dream balances this minimalism with a touch of light distortion effect that adds in the atmosphere and the depth of the final sound.
The DIY video for "The Displaced" is a fitting visual accompaniment to the song, depicting scenes of Dimi walking alone through city streets, along with imagery of both Dimi and Prodromos that brings sad emotions and sense of isolation.
Overall, "The Displaced" is an hypnotic, dark minimal song that feels thoughtful, marked by its minimalist approach and haunting aesthetic. Edgar's Dream has created a track that manages to capture the depth of darkwave blended with their experimental edge.
After the formation in 2015, in 2020 Edgar's Dreams contributed with their cover of Death In June Song “Break the Black Ice” in the first Honoris Album Of Unknown Pleasures Records, France and in 2022 in the third Honoris Album with the cover of Bauhaus song “Hollow Hills”.
