PREMIERE: Greek dark wave, electro goth duo, Deathbed, returns with the "Machines" EP

Deathbed unleash their "Machines" the third EP with their gloomy, dark wave, dark electronica!

Deathbed has been one of ElektroSpank's passions since their first appearance back in 2018 with their same titled EP. The Athens based duo, consisting of Aggelos Mastrantonis and Ion Solounias, returns with their third music chapter, "Machines" following the unique and emotional, second EP "Alabastrine" released on December 2019.

"Machines" is coming almost five years since the 3-track "Alabastrine" and Aggelos and Ion crafts a dark, atmospheric experience on their sound. Across the three new tracks, "In Motion", "Another Day", and "Machines", Deathbed seamlessly blends shadowy beats and brooding synths building images of a world of haunting rhythms and intense moods.

"In Motion" opens the EP with a melodic synth layer and pulsating bassline, developing a sense of self-determination . The track builds with minimalist percussion, providing a hypnotic rhythm that pushes forward while maintaining a haunting ambience. The vocals, subdued yet compelling, capture the feeling of anxiety, balancing between tension and control. The sound elements balance beautifully, creating a fascinating soundscape.

"Another Day" is slightly more melancholic, capturing the atmospheric elements of classic dark synths with subtle hints of electro dirt. There is a contrast delivering softer, haunting synth tones with a dark atmosphere, creating a melancholy that stays throughout the whole track. The vocals here are raw, amplifying the existentialtouches of the lyrics. In "Another Day", Deathbed manages to create a moody soundscape  through minimalist instrumentation.

The title track, "Machines," expresses the duo's unique sound while also completing the sound puzzle of the EP’s themes. Deep industrial beats and distorted synth layers, "Machines" explores the tension between human emotion and mechanical existence. The lyrics and vocals reflect an adaptation to a mechanized world, enhancing the dark, somber atmosphere, while we find an interesting contrast with the existence of the female backing vocals by Nefeli Stam. The closing track goes more into EBM influences, with more aggression and intensity.

Deathbed moves forward with the "Machines" EP. Their sound and the use of all elements captures a powerful blend of darkwave, dark electronica, synthpop and EBM, while  balancing melody with aggression and emotions with raw intensity!
