Mutual Shock - Destroyer
Mutual Shock's "Destroyer" delivers a pulsating, industrial dark wave sound!
Seattle-based musician Dan Powers, under the moniker Mutual Shock, has unveiled "Destroyer," the first single from his forthcoming album. "Destroyer" marks a departure from Powers' previous work, leaning heavier into industrial sounds while retaining the moody synth-driven aesthetic.
Drawing inspiration from post-punk, synthpop, synthwave, and the cold wave revival, Mutual Shock blends analog synths and drum machines with dreamy, melancholic hooks. Influenced by artists like Black Marble and Molchat Doma, Powers creates a sonic landscape that is both attractive and agitating.
"Destroyer" goes into a more industrial edge compared to his debut EP, "Stimulus Progression," which featured pulsating, metronomic beats in tracks like "Inheritance" and "Getaway." The new single promises a more expansive and dynamic sound for the upcoming full-length album slated for release in 2025.
"Destroyer" is an electrifying atmospheric track adopting elements of dark wave, dark electro, and industrial music. With its gloomy melodies and driving rhythms, "Destroyer" is promising introduction to Mutual Shock's new chapter.
