Great Good Fine OK release the new single "Breathing"
Great Good Fine OK announces new EP, "Exist" with the release of the new single "Breathing"!
Great Good Fine OK demonstrates a clever songwriting, with each section of "Breathing" smoothly flowing into the next. The arrangement is expertly crafted, featuring well-suited instrumental breaks that allow the synth elements to glow. The song's structure ensures a continuous sense of energy, keeping the strength high from start to finish.
LA-via-Brooklyn synth-pop stalwarts Great Good Fine Ok kick off the new year with the announcement of their forthcoming EP EXIST out March 22, 2024 via Nettwerk. Arriving with the news is the band’s new single “Breathing.”
"Breathing" is a sonic journey through pulsating basslines, simmering drums, and wah-wah groans, all set against a neon-hued backdrop. The track encapsulates the band's signature blend of groovy yet sonically dynamic elements, creating an immersive and infectious musical experience. In the midst of societal chaos and uncertainty, Great Good Fine Ok delivers a poignant message with "Breathing.” The band reflects, “Our favorite mantra is that ‘It’s not what happens to you, but how you handle it.’ In a world so fraught with anxiety triggers, we’re told that the first and easiest step is to just…breathe. However, It can be hard when there are wars happening, human rights are being threatened, folks are claiming to see aliens, and the ground is metaphorically and literally shaking. Over the past few years, each of us has either become an expert at breathing through the hard times, or we’ve struggled. This song is a reminder to give up trying to have control and keep on breathing."
Some opposites do more than just attract. Such a union drives Brooklyn duo Great Good Fine Ok. Vocalist Jon Sandler and producer and multi-instrumentalist Luke Moellman seem like a study in contrasts. Often clad in space age glittery jackets, and bathed in a laser glow, Sandler’s voice stretches from singer-songwriter sensitivity to funky falsetto. Something of an aural mad scientist, Moellman quietly draws on nearly two decades of production experience and an expansive arsenal of instruments. “Luke is very much the technical mind, and I’m very much the emotional lyricist,” affirms Sandler. In 2013, the musicians recorded a debut viral and critical hit entitled “You’re The One For Me.” A pair of EPs—Body Diamond and 2M2H soon followed. In 2015 they co-wrote and performed The Chainsmokers single “Let You Go.” The next two EPs, III and GGFOUR which include anthems “Take It or Leave It”, "Change" and “Easy” would pave the way for several headline tours, performances at Comedy Central's Clusterfest, Bonnaroo Music Festival, and the release of their single, "Find Yourself", a collaboration with Before You Exit. The past few years have included a sold out 6 city tour of China, performances at Firefly and Bunbury Music Festivals, a collaboration with The Knocks called “Lucky Me” and their 5th EP, Great Good Five Ok which LADYGUNN Magazine describes as “a smooth and varied back and forth between Modern Electropop sounds and a luxurious Nu-Disco - an exercise in plasticity."
