Ghost Fetish - Show & Tell
Ghost Fetish's latest single, "Show & Tell" is a seductive dive into emotional exposure.
As the pilot single for their forthcoming second LP, "Show & Tell" feels like a confident step forward, both music-wise and thematically.
Opening with icy synth rhythm and a "whispering" bass, the song immediately conjures the cool detachment of early new wave while dripping with the emotional undertone characteristic of darkwave’s best. The vocals hover somewhere between emotional urgency and provocation, delivered with a haunted softness that matches the lyrical motif of vulnerability: “the nervous euphoria of nakedness” is noticeable in every chorus wave and breathy line.
Trevor Spencer’s production is clean but shadowy, making every element clear while keeping the tension. Ghost Fetish's "Show & Tell" simmers more than it explodes, but its impact is undeniable. The arrangement builds steadily, layering cold synth textures and echoing guitar flickers that recall era The Cure or Cold Cave, but with a distinctly modern twist.
"Show & Tell is for anyone who’s ever waited on the precipice of love, uncertain if they’ll be caught or left hanging. It's danceable, yes, but it’s also deeply intimate, pulling you into its confession booth with both hands.
With "Show & Tell", Ghost Fetish delivers an intriguing promise for what’s to come. If this track is any indication, their second LP might be the record to push them further into the synth-lit spotlight.
