Premiere: The Marquis Is Dead unveils official video "Second Skin (Dead Circuits club mix)"
The Marquis Is Dead turns "Second Skin" into a compelling and striking industrial club hit!
Emerging from the shadows with an uncompromising vision, The Marquis is Dead unveils a blistering new rework of their latest single, "Second Skin (Dead Circuits Club Mix)". The new single digs into its way out of the ruins of EBM and post-punk roots, re-forged into something heavier, darker, and completely relentless. The Marquis Is Dead is the project of Brussels-based multi-instrumentalist Dillon Steele, known for his feral fusion of doom-drenched riffs, heavy electronics, explosive beats, and custom-forged percussion.
Dillon Steele comments on "Second Skin (Dead Circuits club mix)": “With Dead Circuits, the club mix of my new double-single Second Skin (the industrial-metal version Live Matter will be out very shortly), I wanted to re-imagine it for the club — heavier, darker, and more relentless, a fusion of industrial electronics and heavy modern production,” explains mastermind Dillon Steele. “The track is about shedding the weight of the past, and stepping into renewal with an unforgiving pulse, all that energy channelled through pounding beats and distorted electronics. It’s both a nod to my electronic foundations as The Marquis, and a step forward into the new sonic identity of The Marquis is Dead.”
Watch the premiere of "Second Skin (Dead Circuits Club Mix)" below:
That new identity is raw and feral. Where Steele’s former incarnation The Marquis harnessed coldwave and EBM, The Marquis is Dead dives headfirst into metallic industrial chaos. Doom-drenched guitar riffs, punishing electronics, and custom-built percussion collide with an energy that feels ritualistic, like a collapsing landscape reanimated through sound. The Dead Circuits club mix doesn’t just rework "Second Skin" for the dancefloor, but it tears it apart and rebuilds with raw strength. Pounding kick drums drive through intense layers of distortion, while waves of synthetic noise upturn against the edges, getting listeners into an impulse of purifying aggression. It’s music for dark rooms, sweaty basements, and late-night rituals where dance becomes a way of living.
"Second Skin (Dead Circuits club mix)" also indicates the atmosphere of The Marquis is Dead’s forthcoming LP Darkage, an album that promises to blend the rhythmic precision of Steele’s past with the harsh weight of industrial metal. Described as “a soundtrack for a collapsing world,” "Darkage" will deliver grinding grooves and apocalyptic atmospheres that remain, while irresistibly danceable.
On stage, the project transforms into a devastating duo: Steele alongside bassist Reshma Goolamy (of Neptunian Maximalism), pairing thundering low-end with sequenced electronics and strong percussion. Live, The Marquis is Dead is a concert that turns into a ritual, chaotic and crushing.
With recent performances at Brutal Assault (CZ), Sonic Rites Festival (FI), and Over The Edge Fest (DE), plus releases through X-IMG, Strange Therapy, and Aufnahme + Wiedergabe, The Marquis is Dead has already established itself as an uncompromising act in the industrial underground. And with touring in Japan, Korea, and Canada planned for 2026, the devastation is set to spread even further.
For now, "Second Skin (Dead Circuits club mix)" serves as the latest transmission, a statement of rebirth through noise, rhythm, and distortion.
