GIRLS UNDER GLASS reveal the new video "Dream Yourself Away" featuring original vocalist Tom Lücke.

"Dream Yourself Away" is presented as the next single taken from the bonus CD, which is accompanying the artbook and vinyl editions of the forthcoming album "Backdraft", which has been scheduled for release on June 2, 2023. 

The new single seems to include all these that the new album, "Backdraft" will bring. Old school goth rock sound, dark wave blended with electronics and catchy synth melodies and addictive post-punk riffs. 

GIRLS UNDER GLASS comment on the new single: "The track 'Dream Yourself Away' was recorded in an old building of a park in Hamburg already in 2018 and is now being released as our second single in conjunction with the 'Backdraft' album", co-founding member Tom Lücke, who left the band in 1989 but became a part of them again in 2016". 

Tom Lücke explains about its lyrics that "spontaneously erupted out of him": "It is a positive outlook on life in the present and in future. The text asks to deal with the important issues now and with confidence. The song is directly linked to my time with GIRLS UNDER GLASS back in the days, but it is also connected through the 80s vibes within me to the present. To me, it nearly appears as if the days in between have never existed. I regard this song highly as a present and it moves me very much to see it being released as a single."

GIRLS UNDER GLASS started out in the city of Hamburg in 1986 and quickly became one of the spearheads of the German gothic rock and dark wave scene. From 1994 until 2006, the band expanded their musical horizon and experimented with rock, crossover, and even metal sounds. With an impressive discography under their belt and a massive loyal fanbase, it came of something of a shock when the band seemed to fizzle out of existence.

Now, GIRLS UNDER GLASS are back and "Backdraft" easily shifts gears from catchy gothic rock to electronic dark wave and up to melodic post-punk. All the elements that turned the band into a bedrock of the dark side of the German rock and wave scene are back in one way or another and enhanced by juicy additions of post-punk and even industrial ingredients.

And while the sounds are immediately reminiscent of the 80s and early 90s, GIRLS UNDER GLASS have not just rested on their past creative laurels but upgraded their music to the new millennium. The Hamburgians are as unmistakably moving through their own musical world as ever and their renewed passion is audible in every note.

Yet although things change, sometimes they also return to a previous state. Former vocalist Thomas "Tom" Lücke has not only joined the band again on stage where he alternated with current singer Volker Zacharias , but Tom also recorded with GIRLS UNDER GLASS as he is singing on the tracks of the EP that comes out alongside this album.
