On Friday 23 June, Release Athens X SNF Nostos after headliners Siouxsie and Interpol, as well as Echo and the Bunnymen and Viagra Boys, welcomes two more excellent bands. Ladytron, leading representatives of the electro-pop scene of the last twenty years, will perform on the stage of Water Square.

In 2023, Release Athens and SNF Nostos of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) join forces, presenting three great festival days on two stages.

The Haunted Youth, one of the most up-and-coming European indie-pop-rock bands, will appear at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) Open Air.

Soon, more names will be announced for the other two days that will be held as part of this partnership. Release Athens X SNF Nostos takes place on June 20, 21 and 23 and brings big names of the world and Greek scene to two stages, in the Square of Nero and the Clearing of the SNFCC, giving us the opportunity to experience an exciting concert three days that is an integral part of Release Athens 2023.

For Friday, June 23, overall the lineup has been formed, so far, as follows:

Water Square / Siouxsie, Echo & The Bunnymen, Ladytron
Clear SNFCC / Interpol, Viagra Boys, The Haunted Youth

Ladytron, for two decades, have enjoyed universal recognition, as they never stop searching for new sonic paths, defying formulas and fashions.

The quartet of Helen Marnie, Daniel Hunt, Mira Aroyo and Reuben Wu began their journey in the early 00s, in Liverpool. They quickly gained fame, playing in unusual places and countries that other bands rarely visited. The first three records - "604", "Light & Magic" and "Witching Hour" - led to appearances with Nine Inch Nails, Bjork and Brian Eno. The latter had stated that Ladytron was for him the best example of British pop.

In 2019, after 8 years of solo pursuits, they opened a new chapter with their sixth album, "Ladytron", which received a rapturous reception, just like this year's, "Time's Arrow", with the wonderful "City Of Angels" and "Faces " to have already distinguished themselves.

Get ready for a unique electro-pop performance, with anthems like "Seventeen", "Playgirl", "Ghosts", "Destroy Everything You Touch", from a truly great band!

The Belgians The Haunted Youth are the creation of Joachim Liebens, who writes wonderful music about his sad teenage years and, at the same time, about the essence of being young and full of hope. The debut "Dawn of the Freak" (2022) is dreamy pop that brings to mind and heart Slowdive, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine and DIIV as key influences.

With the great first singles "Coming Home", "Gone" and "Broken" they gained fame in Belgium and Holland, but very quickly it spread to England and USA. The anthemic "Teen Rebel" was what opened the doors wide for them, "a song you think you've been listening to all your life, like a friend hugging you", as was aptly written in the press, while "I Feel Like Shit And I Wanna Die”, released a few months ago, seems destined to become the next big indie hit.

Haunted Youth are coming to our country for the first time, in a summer where they will be present at major festivals such as Rock Werchter, Pinkpop, Sziget. It certainly won't be the last.
