Zybergeis delivers potent "acoustic resistance" with "Vermin...and then some"!
Zybergeist's latest EP, "Vermin...and then some," is a relentless and uncompromising journey through the darker realms of Industrial, Dark Electro, and EBM. Far more than just a collection of tracks, this release stands as a multi-layered statement of "acoustic resistance," filled with distorted rage and raw emotion.
The EP kicks off with the "Radio Edit" of "Vermin," a direct and aggressive opener that distills the track's core themes of political brutality, censorship, and social fragmentation into an uncompromising, yet danceable, sonic experience. This is where Zybergeist sets the tone distorted, raw, and damn well real.
The strength of "Vermin...and then some" lies in its diverse reinterpretations. Jed Rabid's remix of "Vermin" transforms the title track into an intense Noise/EBM beast, a chaotic swirl of brutal breaks and distorted rhythms. In stark contrast, the VW Edit takes a more minimal, colder, and almost technoid approach, reducing the structure to its dark, pulsating essence for a deep, slow-burning impression. These remixes, along with contributions from scene heavyweights like Leæther Strip and Vintr, reveal new sound dimensions, ranging from pounding club versions to dark, atmospheric industrial techno.
Concluding the sonic drive is a deeply personal cover of David Bowie’s "Heroes." Inspired by Peter Gabriel’s orchestral interpretation, this quiet cover offers a poignant, almost purging, end to the EP's intense ride. "An intimate conclusion that reminds us: after all the noise, humanity remains. Vocals by Zybergeist himself."
But the dark electrified audio march doesn't stop here. "Vermin...and then some" comes with five bonus tracks to complete the industrial experience. "Arschtanz" blends old-school sounds with hard techno, creating a catchy, dancefloor, hit. "Gefahr/Danger" is a dark electro/industrial piece delivering a haunting atmosphee with gloomy pads and the spoken words howls. "Fucking Me Up Forever" explores different paths with raw and emotional sounds and vocals, going until tripo-hop lines, in this electronic ballad.
The bonus tracks are completed with "Vermin - Original Cut" and "Vermin - Leather Strip Remix (Instrumental).
Available as a comprehensive package on Bandcamp, including five hidden bonus tracks, and a compact streaming version on Spotify, "Vermin...and then some" is a powerful, forward-thinking declaration. It's a sonic protest where each track tells its own version of despair, or simply the joy of distortion.
