Monteal based quartet, MINDREADER released debut haunting dark synthesized debut EP "Cope With Me"!
MINDREADER’s "Cope With Me" EP offers a captivating fusion of 80s-inspired electronic rhythms and ambient textures, weaving haunting storytelling into modern synth-pop. The Montreal-based quartet transcends in blending vocal harmonies with cold soundscapes, creating an atmosphere that is both nostalgic, gloomy and fresh. "Cope With Me" comes after the release of two singles to complete the sonic puzzle that blends the influences of the quartet in an inspirational, melancholic way!
The opener, "The Kill," sets the tone with pulsating beats and ethereal but bitter vocals, pulling the listener into the EP's dark and hypnotic world an starting this experience with a song about a futile love story and relationship. The accompanying video by Alexandrine Khoury awarded as best music video in Rome Prisma Film Awards.
"Leviathan" deepens this experience with brooding synths and a sense of anxiety, while the haunting chorus elevates its dramatic tension and the depressed anger hidden into human connections. A powerful dark cold electronic outbreak comes in the second half. "Parasite" picks up the pace, delivering driving rhythms paired with eerie melodies, evoking a sense of claustrophobia and intensity. Here MINDREDAER showcases their ability to create a track that easily converts the emotions of melancholy into a danceable melody.
"Soft Pull" shifts into a more introspective mood, layering ambient textures and soft harmonies that add emotional depth, offering a breather while still maintaining the EP's immersive aura. A really interesting track with unexpected sound remodeling that gives another layer of somber atmosphere. The closer, "Outsider," is a haunting outro, blending all of the project's core elements. Atmospheric synths, poignant lyrics, and a steady electronic pulse, into a sentimental ending in MINDREADER's first chapter.
"Cope With Me" is a blurring journey through modern synth-pop and electrified post-punk, balancing electronic intensity with deep emotions coming from psychological experiences and abuse, leading to the healing of the soul, making MINDREADER a great and unique addition in Montreal’s dark and electro scene.
