Violenteer - Cocaive Man
Violenteer’s "Cocaive Man" is a howling, throbbing beast of a track, setting the stage for their S/T LP with sheer sonic force.
The dual-bass foundation pulses with primal intensity, a deep, grinding undercurrent that hums and buzzes like an exposed electrical wire. Above it, waves of noise and post-industrial textures swirl in controlled chaos, creating a soundscape that is both hypnotic and menacing.
"Cocaive Man" balances post-rock’s atmospheric sound with noise rock’s confrontational edge, layering noisy guitars and distorted feedback over the relentless rhythmic churn. Vocals emerge like distant shouts through darkness, barely breaking through the dense, suffocating mix. The result is spellbinding, a hypnotic descent into the shadows of urban decay and restless energy.
Darkly beautiful yet brutally raw, "Cocaive Man" is a striking opener that grips the listener and refuses to let go. Violenteer introduces themselves as builders of tension.
"With the release of their debut EP (Skinsuit Communications), and through their mesmerizing live shows, Violenteer continues to push boundaries and confound labels (both literal and figurative), positing an innovative musical commentary on this often dark and sometimes beautiful world. Each song reflects this thoughtful and haunting outlook, conjured up as a collage of guitar or synth-like melodic flavorings that are at times brash, at others a soothing melancholy. All the while, the deep-water dual-bass and drum grooves support the soaring, searching, and often eerie vocal expressionistic sketches that overlay the melodic gloom with a lyrical snarl that reflects the creators’ existential exploration of the complex and fatalist reality in which we increasingly find ourselves."
