Skaivi's dark, electronic, ethereal journey to "Selene Of The Night"

Skaivi's "Selene Of The Night" tales the listener onto an electrified trip to the moon!

"Selene Of The Night" by Skaivi is a seductive blend of electronica, dark wave, and experimental electronic music that envelops the listener in a cosmic embrace. The track's dense, atmospheric layers and haunting melodies evoke the serene and mysterious essence of the Greek moon goddess Selene and encapsulates her ghostly and enigmatic nature, through its melodies and pulsating rhythm. Skaivi’s ethereal vocals, making their debut in this track, add a deeply personal and comforting dimension, as if Selene herself is whispering words of comfort and relief. Pulsating, hypnotic beats and atmospheric synths create a sense of mysticism, with a rich production.

"Selene Of The Night" stands out not only for its intricate soundscapes but also for its emotional depth. Skaivi's vocal performance is tender and soothing, a perfect conduit for the song's theme of optimism and reassurance. The lyrics, though minimalistic, are sentimental and passionate, further enhancing the connection to the divine and tranquil presence of Selene. It is a song that can be a testament to Skaivi’s artistic evolution, blending genres and emotions to create a unique soundscape that is both captivating and comforting.

20-year-old Skaivi was born and raised in the dynamic city of Chicago. Having Polish and Slovak heritage, she grew up multiculturally, especially residing within the Polish-American community (Polonia) of Chicago and its suburbs.

While also liking singing, Skaivi’s main thing is electronic music composition and production. She doesn’t limit herself to one single subgenre. Instead, she creates whatever kind of song she feels like creating at the moment, whether that be a clubby techno tune or an out-of-the-box experimental piece. Skaivi likes to focus on sound design and all the little details that can make a song flourish, often adding magical, outer-spacey elements to her works. “Having that sort of otherworldly vibe is important to me, and something I feel is integral to my overall sound as a producer,” she says. Skaivi also has many musicians she admires that influence her and her writing, and many genres that captivate her, such as electronic, metal, disco, trap-pop, industrial, and alternative.

Initially, Skaivi started as a lyricist, following in her mother’s footsteps. After she started gaining inspiration from her mother and other artists such as Tyler Joseph, she wrote her first lyrics at age 13. There were demos made of that song, as well as other ones that she wrote, but she had an intrinsic desire to make her music by herself, in the way she wanted. That eventually led her down the path of music production, which she finally gave a shot after being inspired by Grimes and her production. Armed with an iPhone SE, she created her first compositions and productions on Garageband at the age of seventeen, eventually graduating to a laptop with a professional digital audio workstation.

Today, she currently works in a DIY setup within her bedroom. Constantly working on improving and evolving as an artist, she takes pride in making her music the best it can be, and her perfectionist self is meticulous about her creations. Along with wanting to build up a diverse discography of well-produced songs, she also hopes to inspire others someday the way her favorite musicians inspire her.
