Anton's dark and cold sounds in "Sans Pitié" and "Fever"
"Sans Pitié" by Anton is a striking embodiment of post-punk and cold wave influences!
Weaving together a soundscape that is both stark and intensely atmospheric, the track opens with a driving, bass line that immediately recalls the raw energy of early dark, cold wave, while the addictive, mechanical beats raises the cold dreaminess of modern post-punk. Anton’s vocals, delivered in a hauntingly emotive style, add a layer of temptation, creating a sense of dark wave's introspection. The French lyrics further enhance the track's mystique, adding a layer of poetic intensity that complements the song’s icy vibe.
Anton is a solo darkwave project led by Anton Steinbock since 2021. Based in Paris and "Sans Pitié" is taken from the debut EP, "Volcan", released in May 2024, mixed and mastered by Sydney Valette.
"Sans Pitié" is minimalist yet powerful, with each element carefully placed to create a sense of tension. The bassline, deep and pulsating, provides a strong backbone, driving the song forward with relentless precision. The use of synths adds a cold, distant atmosphere, creating a haunting atmosphere.
Anton Steinbock was introduced to the fans of dark and cold wave sounds back in 2021 with his first track released, titled "Fever".
"Fever" is another beautiful blend of post-punk, cold wave, and dark wave, delivering a moody and intense sonic experience. The track is driven by a pulsating bassline and clever synths that evoke the raw energy and the ambience of electronic side of post-punk, creating a layer of cold wave emotion. Anton’s vocals were still haunting,adding depth to the atmospheric sound.
