On Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21, 2025, Athens will once again be the concert hub of "dark" music.

With a lineup that will once again make the heads of the alternative scene turn towards our country, Death Disco Open Air 2025 will be the ultimate local concert event of the dark scene—and one of the most important worldwide—in 2025.

Anne Clark & Band (UK), Peter Hook & The Light (UK), Anja Huwe / Xmal Deutschland (Germany) in a historic reunion, The Chameleons (UK), Cold Cave (USA), Corpus Delicti (France), Buzz Kull (USA), Klangstabil (Germany), Spiritual Front (Italy), Aux Animaux (Sweden), Eddie Dark (Greece), Blakaut (Greece), Valisia Odell (Greece), Incirrina (Greece), in a dream lineup that turns the eyes of "dark" music fans and Europe towards Athens.

Artist Biographies

Anne Clark & Band

For more than 40 years, British artist Anne Clark has held a very special place in music and literature with a unique blend of music and poetry. She started in 1979 playing drums in a punk band, but although she was fascinated by punk ideology, her preference for the music of Kraftwerk, Can, and Brian Eno led her to change musical direction.

With an impressive discography and some of the most iconic singles of all time (led by the ultimate club hit "Our Darkness," which even today finds its place with the same ease on dark and electronic/techno dancefloors) and boosted by her recent sold-out European tour, she returns to Athens with a full band, 17 full years after her last visit.

This is a unique opportunity for the new generation to get to know the mythical Anne Clark, who has made her mark on all the dark generations from the '80s until today, and for her old followers who will have a rare chance to come face-to-face with such a great and timeless artist.

Peter Hook & The Light

Peter Hook, whose work as a bassist and composer for Joy Division and New Order is considered unsurpassed, is coming with his band, Peter Hook and The Light, to present a set based exclusively on these two titans of post-punk / new wave / synth-pop music.

A set based on songs that history has placed at the top of the alternative music pyramid, such as "Love Will Tear Us Apart," "Transmission," "Shadowplay," "She’s Lost Control," "Atmosphere" and so many more from Joy Division and from New Order, along with others like "True Faith," "Bizarre Love Triangle," "Regret," and of course "Blue Monday," the most successful alternative music single and a landmark song for the subsequent evolution of music.

Through his live appearances, Peter Hook not only offers a unique experience but is also perhaps the only person on earth who has the right to keep the spirit of Joy Division alive. And he has earned that right because he does it with respect and dignity.

The Chameleons

Along with Peter Hook & The Light, another iconic post-punk band from Manchester is coming in September. Mark Burgess's Chameleons are one of the most influential and at the same time marginalized bands of the '80s alternative music scene, which today is finally getting the recognition it deserves with bands like Interpol and Oasis mentioning them as a major influence.

The Chameleons are now considered one of the greatest post-punk bands of all time, with their unsurpassed debut "Script of the Bridge" firmly enthroned in the all-time Top 5, and their concerts are sold out worldwide, with their latest achievement being the co-headlining US tour with Twin Tribes.

The fact that two such iconic figures from Manchester, Peter Hook and Mark Burgess, will be at our festival in September fills us with pride and the fans of the greatest post-punk scene, that of Manchester, with anticipation.

Buzz Kull

The new blood of the scene has been worthily represented in recent years by Buzz Kull of Australian Marc Dwyer. After their sold-out performance at Death Disco in early 2024, they return to Athens with their unique EBM / Industrial / Cold Wave creation, the freshest and most innovative that contemporary "dark" music has to offer.

Klangstabil

The German Klangstabil, one of the most important electronic acts of the last three decades with releases on labels such as Hymen, Ant Zen, and Raumklang, are breaking the silence of recent years and returning to live action in 2025 with appearances at all the major festivals of the genre to prove from the stage to the whole world why they are considered the top act of IDM / Electro / industrial music.

Anja Huwe / Xmal Deutschland

Without a doubt, the most significant event of the dark wave / goth scene for the current year is the concert revival of Anja Huwe and XMal Deutschland.

After 35 full years, anthem songs of the dark scene like "Incubus Succubus," "Polarlicht," "Qual," "Mondlicht," etc., are coming back to life on stage, something that seemed an unattainable dream just a few months ago. And we are particularly proud that in September at DDOAF2025 we will be witnesses to this epic return.

Be ready for all the great hits of XMal Deutschland and a selection of songs from Anja's recent solo album "codes," released by Sacred Bones records (which also released the XMal Deutschland - Early Singles 1981 - 1982 last year), which she wrote with the help of another legend of the German underground scene, Mona Mur, who will also be in the band that will accompany Anja at her concert. Comeback of the year!

Cold Cave

We are very proud that Cold Cave will also be present at DDOAF2025, a band that, along with The Soft Moon, are considered the most important acts of the post-punk / cold wave / synth-pop revival, with names like Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails having chosen them to accompany them on their world tours and their singer and mastermind Wesley Eisold considered one of the pioneers of contemporary alternative music.

In fact, Wesley has shared the stage with Peter Hook & The Light in the past, singing Joy Division and New Order, which gives us hope that something similar will happen again in Athens in September.

Corpus Delicti

Corpus Delicti was formed in Nice, France in 1992 and immediately caused a sensation, with their debut album "Twilight" becoming a landmark of the genre.

They were characterized as a delightful blend of Bowie, Bauhaus, and Christian Death, and even today they are considered the only French band to be placed next to the holy monsters of "dark" music such as The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division, etc.

After two more amazing albums, they broke up in 1997. 25 years later, and with their popularity constantly increasing thanks to social media, Corpus Delicti have reformed for a world tour and after a live album and a brand new single, they are returning to Athens for DDOAF2025.

Spiritual Front

Spiritual Front comes to us from Rome and was founded in 1999 by Simone Salvatori. Their music is described as "nihilistic suicide pop," although elements of neoclassical and rock, melancholic pop, as well as tango, along with an experimental mood, are not only discernible but often prevail. From the dark, mournful, experimental pop of the early days, the sound of Spiritual Front began to transform and grow, to the point of now being compared to the work of Nick Cave, Swans, and Scott Walker.

With their latest album, "The Queen Is Not Dead," they reveal another until recently hidden aspect of their existence: their passion for The Smiths. The album consists exclusively of faithful covers of the most beloved songs by The Smiths, which we can't wait to hear, along with all their old classics, live at DDOAF2025.

Aux Animaux

We are very happy that Aux Animaux will be present at DDOAF2025, the impressive one-woman band of Turkish-born Gozde Duzer, who is based in Stockholm and combines horror aesthetics with dark synths, dystopian sounds, haunted vocals, and theremin.

Her first appearance in Athens was at the Death Disco club in the spring of 2024 and her stunning performance made us feel the need to host her at our festival. We look forward to meeting you again in our parts, Gozde.

EDDIE DARK

I think we all understand it now. Athens has finally got its very own dark prince. A mysterious slender guy who can just as easily charm you with his elegant appearance, his polite manners, and the freshness of his just 23 years, can just as easily insult you, swear at you, and even sing… Kazantzidis to you. And yet he charms you just as much.

EDDIE DARK is a vampire with the sole purpose of terrorizing the crowd. He came out of the catacomb in 2022 and has since been writing music for nervous people, having so far released one EP (FREAKWAVE CASSETTE VOL.1) and two LPs (LOUKOUDA + DISKO TERRORISTA).

EDDIE DARK is the first Greek participation we are announcing for DDOAF2025 and we are fully ready for a unique electric EBM / electro show, with a good dose of sarcasm, that you won't find anywhere else, no matter how persistently you look in the dark alternative scene of our days.

INCIRRINA

Incirrina is an Athenian synth duo consisting of Giorgos Katsanos and Eirini Tiniakou. Their music moves in the paths of the dark wave/minimal synth scene and is characterized by the use of mainly analog synthesizers, dark melodies, and strong rhythmic elements.

They have appeared in concerts in Greece and abroad (Belgium, Germany, France, Netherlands, Hungary, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia, Croatia) as well as at Festivals such as "Wave Gotik Treffen" (Leipzig, 2025), "Metavasis" (Zakynthos, 2025), "Athens Music Week" (2025), "Japan Festival" (Athens 2024), "schwarts + Bruits De La Cave Festival" (Hanover, 2024), "Athens Digital Arts Festival" (ADAF) - FutuRetro 2022, "Pliisken Festival" (as an opening act for Ambassade, Athens, 2022), "Cold Transmission Festival 2022" (Cologne), "1st Morphic Festival" (Athens, 2022), "Death Disco Open Air Festival - The Warm Up" (Athens, 2023). They have played as an opening act for "Front 242" (Athens, October 2023), they have also been honored with an award for their participation in "Syd Sessions Go ADAF" in September 2021. They have composed the music for the theatrical play "Alligators" directed by Yiannis Laspias, which they played live during the performances (Gloria theater, 2024), they have also done the orchestrations and soundscapes for the play "Little Women" by Athina Chatzathanasiou (Alhambra theater, 2024-2025).

Their releases include 2 LPs - "8.15" (with poetry by William Blake - Geheimnis Records, October 2019) and "Lip Led Scream" (with poetry by Konstantinos Londos - Cold Transmission, August 2022, which received very good reviews) - 2 maxi singles - "Utter" (November 2020) and "Immersion" (September 2024) from Cold Transmission - the singles "Only One Smile Alone" (June 2025) and the 7'' split single "Devastations-R.Daneel" with "The Man & His Failures" (Smash Records. 2021), and their first Greek-language single "KRYFO" (July 2025).

BLAKAUT

Blakaut was born in 2017 in Athens by A.X. His sound moves on cold electronic paths and is inspired by life in the capital. The sound collage of his compositions consists of one-piece beats, melancholic leads, harsh basses and all these are accompanied by sound samples from movies and recitations of poems. To date he has released 9 full albums on cassette and vinyl and we are sure that his participation in DDOAF2025, with this unique EBM / Techno sound he produces, will be one of the most dynamic and rousing performances of the festival.

VALISIA ODELL

Valisia Odell is the collaboration of Valisia Odell and Aristomenis Theodoropoulos - an electronic duo that for years created in the shadows, weaving echoes from behind the curtain. Now, however, they are coming into the light. Piercing, distinctive vocals are intertwined with hypnotic, relentless melodies.

After Phoenix Catscratch and Strawberry Pills, a new chapter opens in Valisia Odell's journey. Stand up and face it - a captivating experience awaits you. And we can't wait to host one of the most iconic figures of the contemporary local dark alternative scene on the stage of DDOAF2025 at the beginning of her new musical journey.
